Learned Helplessness is afflicting most Nigerians.

  • By Dr. Charles Omole

The expectations of Nigerians of Politicians have been historically low for decades after several dashed hopes by new leaders who simply became as bad as its predecessor. With the non-payment of salaries, the expectation became even lower. This reality is now a problem for 2019..
When people praise govt for doing something they should have done long ago as if it is breakthrough…you know Learned Helplessness is afflicting most Nigerians. When Governors want workers to be grateful they are being paid their salaries on time, you know we have a problem.
This epidemic of low expectation makes citizens excited for getting peanuts when governors should have given them a big dinner. Poverty has now been weaponized by politicians in such a way that peanut is celebrated as “big” stride & progress. We need to shake off this mediocrity.
